I hold a Ph.D. and M.S. in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University and a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma.
My work focuses on improving forecasts of tropical cyclone hazards, with particular emphasis on tropical cyclone intensity, storm surge, and uncertainty representation. I actively contribute to projects that enhance ensemble-based guidance, advance storm surge modeling, and improve how forecast uncertainty is communicated to both forecasters and decision-makers. More recently I have been working to integrate AI techniques to improve the performance of probabilistic storm surge guidance.
My research interests span tropical meteorology, tropical cyclones, mesoscale processes, lightning, and atmospheric radiation, with a strong interest in bridging the gap between research and operations. I am passionate about learning, teaching, and developing tools that translate complex science into actionable information that improves preparedness and risk communication.
